At PIC, we measure our success and evaluate ourselves by our adherence to the 10 principles listed below.  By following these principles, we have a company where people want to spend their careers and a company that our clients want to work with. While no one can meet these high standards all of the time, it is vital that everyone constantly and passionately pursue these standards of excellence.

 

1. BE “THE BEST OF THE BEST®”

Our trademark, “The Best Of The Best®”, is paramount to us. All employees must strive to constantly evaluate everything they do, looking for a faster, more efficient and better way. There should be a sound purpose for all actions, and common sense should be used as their guide. We demand all employees to take ownership of their work, and we reward excellent performance.

 

2. ALWAYS TELL THE TRUTH

PIC rewards honesty, integrity and courage. We demand employees to be truthful, direct and forthright in all they do and say. PIC employees must say, “I can’t answer that” or “I don’t know, but will find out” rather than give misleading or untrue information. We believe that by our example others conduct themselves with high values too. We do not let business opportunities stand between us and doing what’s right. Integrity affects our reputation, and our reputation is everything.

 

3. LOOK IN THE MIRROR

Always “look in the mirror” first when something goes wrong. We want people to examine their own behavior and motivations, and what they could have done differently, rather than blaming other when something goes wrong. We expect all employees to honestly analyze themselves, assess their own actions and learn from their mistakes.

 

4. LEAD WITH YOUR FACE

We encourage open, clear, frank, rational and unambiguous communications among employees, unclouded with hidden agendas, egos or protectiveness. We expect frequent and thorough communications on all issues, believing that knowing even unpleasant information is better than being left in the dark.

 

5. CARE ABOUT PEOPLE

All PIC employees should respect the feelings and opinions of others, and not talk about other employees behind their backs or negatively about our company. We want people who can compromise and sometimes let others “win”. PIC employees are to be open-minded, respecting others ideas and contributions. It is our practice to offer help and support to each other at a personal level, and to show friendliness, kindness, forgiveness, compassion and generosity. We embrace those who let their feelings show. We want the Golden Rule to guide our behavior.

6. BE LOYAL TO EACH OTHER

We want the relationship between PIC and its employees to be for their entire careers. The employees achieve this by living and promoting the principles that make up PIC’s culture. PIC received loyalty by creating an environment and a feeling within each employee of ownership, commitment and family.

 

7. KNOW OTHERS; KNOW YOURSELF

Recognize in others what they do best, then count on it! Do the same for yourself. Do what “you are a natural” at and best at. Be content with who you are but always strive to improve. Accept others for who they are, and don’t try to make them different or change them. Instead, work to make everyone’s (including your own) strengths productive and weaknesses irrelevant.

 

8. BE RESPONSIBLE FOR YOUR OWN MENTAL HEALTH

We want people to confront feelings that affect their attitude rather than letting their feelings bother them. Don’t engage in rumors or gossip. Talk to people directly and unemotionally when there is a problem, and use a mediator when necessary. Take joint ownership of the problem, saying “we” rather than “you” or “I”. Keep things in perspective.

 

9. LIVE YOUR DREAMS, WITH ENTHUSIASM

We encourage fresh ideas and help people run with them. We believe in and reward calculated risk taking and innovation. We want people to “step outside the box” and their “comfort zone”, and think creatively about their jobs and the business. We expect persistence in promoting good ideas. We seek high-energy people who invigorate everyone around them and, beyond that, we want people to enjoy themselves and have fun at work.

 

10. FIGHT POWER, VANITY AND GREED

PIC’s culture fights against the corrupting attitudes of power, vanity and greed. All of those attitudes come when we put ourselves first, above others. It is not possible to build true teamwork with a “me first” attitude, and we demand teamwork. The greatest success comes by working with (and not for) others, because by doing so, the whole is much greater than the sum of its parts. We promote cooperation and helpfulness, and fight the damaging effects of power, vanity and greed.
