Dirk Rountree has over 30 years of legal and risk management experience and is responsible for the company’s legal and regulatory matters. Prior to this, he was Managing Attorney for GE Contractual Services, a division of GE Energy, where he led a team of attorneys in Atlanta and London that served as lead counsel for domestic and international transactions.

 

Dirk began his legal career with Anderson Kill Olick & Oshinsky in Washington, DC and Hunton & Williams in Atlanta, where he represented corporate clients in all aspects of complex, multi-party litigation. Prior to his long legal career, Dirk was a Consultant with the Advanced Risk Management Services Division of Corroon & Black Corporation, a national insurance brokerage firm subsequently acquired by Willis Group, where he advised Fortune 500 corporations on risk management programs and plans.  Prior to that, he was a Consultant with AIG Risk Management, where he developed and implemented alternative risk financing programs for Fortune 500 corporations.

 

Over the length of his career, Dirk has served in a number of critical positions including:

 

  • General Counsel, The PIC Group, Inc.
    Dirk continues in this role and is responsible for all legal, regulatory, compliance and corporate governance matters.  He negotiates and draft contracts for domestic and international transactions involving construction, equipment installation, major maintenance, start-up & commissioning, technical, operations & maintenance and staffing services as well as IP licenses, software resale agreements, real estate matters and financing arrangements.  He manages all commercial and employment-related disputes and litigation and all major insurance claims.  He implemented the company’s first ethics & compliance program and spearheaded the implementation of safety policies resulting in safety records significantly better than industry averages.

 

  • Managing Attorney, GE Energy
    Dirk was responsible for structuring and negotiating domestic and international transactions involving equipment & parts sales, long term service agreements (LTSAs) and O&M agreements that generated sales.  He managed a team of ten attorneys that negotiated commercial transactions for power generation projects located throughout North America, Latin America, Europe and the Middle East.

 

  • Other Career Highlights
    Founded a startup manufacturing and distribution company, served as an attorney with two additional firms and spent five years in the risk management industry.

 

Dirk holds a Juris Doctorate from the University of Tennessee College of Law where he was Executive Editor of the Tennessee Law Review and a Bachelor of Science degree in Risk Management & Insurance from Florida State University College of Business.

 

His risk management experience, legal expertise and knowledge of the power industry make him an invaluable member of PIC’s senior management team.
