John Garvey

Vice President of Commercial Management

John Garvey brings over 25 years of experience in the power industry, specifically in international commercial management and business development.


In his role as Vice President of Commercial Management, he provides strong leadership to PIC’s Commercial organization aligning PIC Group’s proposed course of work with the customer’s needs.  He is responsible for overseeing PIC Group’s commercial and technical proposal strategy, cost estimating and scheduling support, progress tracking and mobilization planning.


John’s hands-on power industry experience includes:


  • Managing Director, Infrastructure and Consulting Group, Leidos Engineering
    Responsible for the identification, negotiation, and sales of consulting projects to developers, private equity, and utility clients across the power and gas industries.  Responsible for the customer relationship and monitoring of Independent engineering, Transmission Analysis and Energy Power Market review performance.


  • Vice President, Commercial Services, Capital Power
    Helped establish Capital Power’s Eastern office with responsibility for business development and commercial management of the eastern region portfolio in the United States and Canada.  Responsible for commercial management and business development of Capital Power’s Eastern region portfolio of conventional and renewable power generating facilities.


  • Director of Project Development, Pure Energy Resources
    Responsible for identifying new energy investment opportunities and preparing executive management presentations for Investment Committee review and approval.


  • Director of Project Development, Competitive Power Ventures
    Led the development activities including the identification and analysis of new power projects as well as potential mergers/acquisitions in the Northeast with emphasis on the New York market.


  • Director of Project Development and Director of Asset Optimization Manager, Calpine Corporation
    Led the development, acquisition, and sale of conventional and renewable power generating assets.


John earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Marine Engineering from the Massachusetts Maritime Academy and a Master’s of Business Administration from Suffolk University.
